AFTERWORD (part seven)
Whatever direction in which we predict events to go, 93 will make sure
they don’t. 93/TIME like any lady hates to be
caught out doing anything predictable, she will always do the unexpected.
In the sixties and seventies everybody was whining on about the population
explosion, the doom merchants really thought they had got it made. Some
countries went to the lengths of restricting population growth. 93 let
them get really convinced that future population expansion would become
desperate, and then she pulled the plug on it. We will be lucky if many of
the countries of Europe have any of their indigenous population left by
the year 2100. It will be the same with global warming, she’s
itching to put the lid on that one, and she will.
Have the events of recent history in Eastern Europe been derived from a
logical political process or was it a decision arrived at and orchestrated
by the collective unconscious?
Were not the conscious minds of all the various agencies involved in these
events at the mercy of some unknown will?
Were masses of people reacting to their unconscious will, acting on the
dictates of unconsciously motivated discontent, anxious to resolve a
conflict, and suddenly having all the symptoms of a nervous breakdown?
- and what do we do when we have such a breakdown, but seek the resolution
of it by recourse to methods that are available from more successful
archetypes – moving from collective interests to individual interest.
Emotional breakdown comes when the individual interest has been subjugated
to the collective, whether the collective be the family, company or state;
and that collective consistently acts against the interests of that
individual mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This is when the
individual breaks away from the collective and seeks greener pastures and
as the Communists have found the grass is always greener on the other side
of the street.
Communism has always been an interim state, it can never be permanent.
Individuals banding together against a perceived hostile world first
reject the archetypal myths and systems that defined the rejected system
to exist in a strictly utilitarian basic society. This society becomes
unsuitable as it does not contain cultural or religious archetypes defined
by environment.
The state seeks to impose its will upon the environment in such a way that
it must fail. It designs ludicrous models that it knows must fail so that
in the end it can throw up its hands and return to the system it has
rejected. Social considerations have sacrificed ethnic and environmental
considerations, only to be rejected in their turn when the memories of the
traumas caused by these considerations have been dulled by time and
modified by the collective unconscious to make the rejected system not
just palatable but urgently desirable.
A return to what appears to be a simpler world with more immediate
recognisable solutions - and what makes these solutions more acceptable,
what decides the time for change, defines that change and implements it,
but the collective unconscious acting upon the personal unconscious. Of
course reason will reassert itself and a logical explanation will be found
for everything. Mercury God of reason was also patron of thieves. The
Pundits will come out in force ready and available to explain everything
(after the event) PhD's will be earned by the thousand, new disciplines
dreamt up, new chains created, Frank Sinatra will sing 'My Way' and the
world will go on and the whole of humanity will continue to snooze away
its collective dream.
We mustn’t deny ourselves, denial inhibits progress. If we are going to be
miserable buggers let’s be the world’s most miserable buggers! - don’t
play at it, live it with all your heart and soul. Don’t be an agnostic
miserable bugger, be a true believer, you’ll soon get fed up with it.
If you don’t you’ll get clinically depressed, commit suicide, get reborn
and carry on until you get fed up with misery and choose, out of sheer
boredom, another way.
The Soviet Union didn’t collapse from outside resistance or anything the
Americans did; and the Berlin wall didn’t fall because of massive protest:
this is what keeps these silly regimes intact, action and reaction. No,
the Soviet Union and the Berlin wall fell because people got fed up with
it. Look at the pictures of Soviet citizens before it collapsed, they look
bored witless.
It is wrong to oppose folly in others, let them get on with it, sooner or
later they’ll get fed up with it and do something else; that is, unless it
is opposed. Opposition produces resistance.
Resistance is the energy that feeds the very thing it opposes.
Indifference is the best cure; let them get on with it. They are as much
the Will of God as we are, to deny it is to deny the Unity of God.
Who are we to judge? We don’t know the end of the story, we only have one
point of view which is always distorted by time and/or space. We can never
see reality, we aren’t meant to. This is our garden, smell the flowers,
pick the fruit, and keep digging. The compost on the shit heap of today is
the luscious fruit of tomorrow, just leave it alone and don’t interfere
