This is the formula mentioned above (see’’GODDESS10’’) in action. The women are joined together as one but they are separated at the Neck DAATH the opposite polarity to Yesod. They are joined together in a green dress. Green is the colour of Venus, the Virgin. Two united females mixing Blood and the white fluid in a cup from which a white lion and a red eagle drink. ‘‘Visit the interior of the Earth and by rectification thou shalt find the occult Stone.’’ The cauldron in which the fluids are mixed appears to be over a fire. FIRE=78=NUIT. This again has dual symbolism suggesting passion and the division for love’s sake of Nuit. The heads of the two women have moons passing through them. One head is dark signifying the dark of the moon or menstruation, the other is white suggesting fertility. The robe in the Empress card and in this and the Lovers is embroidered with bees. The bee hive has one queen and is divided into workers and drones. The women do the work i.e. the infertile female bees are the workers and the drones perform no work but are there simply to fertilise the queen upon which the drone dies. The Bee is a symbol of the supremacy of the female.

But what of the lion and the eagle. Again we have Zodiacal symbolism the lion is Leo and the eagle represents Scorpio Leo is the sign of the child and Scorpio the sign of death and transformation. There are two symbols of Scorpio. One is the scorpion symbol of death, the other the Eagle symbol of transformation. The white eagle of the Lovers has become the red eagle of ART and the red lion of Lovers becomes in Art the white lion symbolising an exchange of forces. The Fluid in the cauldron is causing this transformation. The Lion is Mary Magdalene or the Scarlet Woman. The Eagle is the bringer of death, the Virgin Mary. The lion and the eagle are both predators, they would kill each other if they could and in this card the expression on their faces is something less than trust! The suggestion is that the Priestesses should consume the final fluid of rectification or is this a blind. Is it really that these two creatures are spitting the fluid into the cup. They don’t actually drink the fluid. They appear to be more guarding the cup from each other? Neither creature is actually on the ground, they appear to be suspended above it, generated perhaps by the fire.

Perhaps the Lion and Eagle represent the Energy of the ritual. That two women united in this way will take on the character of A Lion and an Eagle. Crowley’s warning about expelling every drop of blood into the Cup of Babalon or it will enflame or enrage the participants is a resume of what is happening in this card. The two creatures represent the powers in the rite as the fluids represent the substance to be transformed. If the ritual is not carried out properly then one experiences the direful judgements of Ra Hoor Khuit. Every drop of power should be expelled into the cup of Babalon. The Ritual should continue until exhaustion and not before otherwise any energy left will be destructive. Don’t forget that white is the colour of the moon and red the colour of Mars. The fact that the animals are in the air signifies that they are a form of energy rather than animals in the ordinary sense. The women are not dressed in magical robes but in a dress suggesting that the physical activity of the ritual is one of pleasure, and a green dress suggests the pleasures of Venus, and that does not include a man. The fluids flow from the centre of the body of the women. So the substance that is rectified is 56/48 by the blood etc of the women. The real elixir is the universal solvent it dissolves everything by its presence.

Here we have all the excretions of the female combined together in the furnace of the Goddess but what do they transmute into and why. It is said that when we look at the Sun moon and stars we are looking at the excretions of these powers. If we combine all the excretions of woman perhaps we return to the original purity but what would be the point of that! The text says the occult stone but we have performed this ritual but we didn’t produce anything that could turn Lead into Gold. However the timing did not include the dark of the moon nor Gemini-Cancer. Incidentally the symbolism of Gemini-Cancer is that of the Goddess Nuit and the Kether of the lower tree in 93.
