THE WAR-ENGINE OF THELEMA (TNE Vol5 Pt2)

We are entering a critical period in the evolution of mankind. The principles that have guided us and the institutions that have guarded us for the last 2,000 years can be seen crumbling everywhere.

Since Crowley received the book Al in 1904 whole countries have changed their ways of existence. Russia and China aware that the old ways could not survive returned to the primitive fundamentalism of the communist state. The banding together of the masses against a real or imaginary enemy and living out and existing in a siege situation. The death of religion is occurring throughout the world; for make no mistake, Hinduism and Islam are losing their grip upon the peoples they have ruled, even as the Christian era is crumbling. It is only a siege mentality of a people that would return it to Christianity, Islam or Hinduism. The fear of praeternational influences threatening a nation causes its people to band together under what should be a non power based institution - their religion, but they only find themselves being manipulated by a Godless state. The theoretical end to such a situation i.e. where a nation's religion fails to sustain its people through a national identity crisis, war is needed with another country to re-affirm its national identity. These are the ways of the old aeon and they are defunct, the new Aeon is with us and its principles as written in the Book of the Law and illustrated by nature are irrefutable. We are on the Threshold of a new beginning when mankind will be truly emancipated into the Cosmos, no longer a mere curiosity to travellers in the body of our Lady of the Stars, but civilised members of her life. The principles of Thelema are being integrated into humanity's thought stream. Changes are occurring on the astral plane, devastating because mankind THINKS IT CAN RESIST the changes required by the Gods. One of these changes is indicated by the loss of identity caused by unemployment in the Western World of an ever increasing number of workers - the anthill no longer needs them. The powers of Al, of the aeon, are making people look inside themselves for an identity. Instead of being labelled by what one does, it is what one is that will matter and those that fail to find themselves will find that not only are they redundant as workers but as souls as well. The Book of the Law is implacable on this matter.

In Thelema is a philosophy that will guide us for the next 2,000 years. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law, and with its Qaballa an affirmation of the direct nature of the message from the Gods that liber Al is. A message that can stand up all the modern methods of computer analysis affirming the transcendental nature of its transmitters.

Magick is based on AL and AL is based on number, the number 11 to be precise, which gives, as explained in our previous article, the following English Qaballistic values:-

A=1; L=2; W=3; H=4; S=5; D=6; O=7; Z=(; K=9; V=10; G=11; R=12; C=13; N=14; Y=15; J=16; U=17; F=18; Q=19; B=20; M=21; X=22; I=23; T=24; E=25; P=26.

No man could have written liber Al: its Qaballa proves this beyond any doubt. For a human being to have contrived Al he would have had to live for several thousand years, a being all powerful, capable of directing a language completely, he must do this and more. Finally he must communicate in some unimaginable way a book - a cipher functioning on all qaballistic levels - a perfect Qaballa concealing and revealing the nature of man and the universe with the magick of the Aeon that controls them. He must write in "whiter words" the truth that is neither word nor number but the truth that exists between them, that is the truth that exists within the Thelemite.

It is my understanding that Thelema is the laws of nature and that man has always been obedient to those laws, even though it appears he disobeys at every opportunity. NATURE = 93. E.Q. Man has always been ruled by expediency and in whose hands but the Gods is the cause of man's dilemma?

Everything in the universe is as it should be. The whole of mankind is under the impression that there is something wrong with the world - a world directed by the same power that controlled man to the extent of directing totally the form of several languages, culminating in the English language and perpetuating their message aeon after aeon, eternally bridging the gap between planes.

- and man has the audacity to think that he rings the changes in the world.

"Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law", but just find your true will and when you do you willing that your true will is divine. The important point is that man has always obeyed his true unconscious will, the conflict has only been caused by man's inability to bridge the planes of consciousness and live in harmony with his true will. Make no mistake his actions would not change, but he would be enlightened and at least know the reasons for his actions. The fact the man's future can be predicted by astrology and other divinatory systems proves that the will of man is the will of God. The statement that the will of man is the will of God does not in one iota change man's experience, the break between planes causes the illusion of "Free Will". the reason that the Gods gave man his illusion is simply part of the divine dance of creation, a cosmic belly laugh at man's expense. For a spiritual inter incarnating being that man is, all things in spiritual experience are just plain fun. Seen from the standpoint of the eternal spirit all human joys and woes are just the spices of existence. What would you do if you lived forever and could do anything? You would create the universe and populate it. You would create the world and man so that you could experience all the combinations of existence and this is what the Gods did.

All mystics from the beginning have said that mankind is one and we are just that, different aspects of the one being created for love's sake with the illusion of individual will - for love's sake or if you like - for fun - can you hear Pan's laughter yet? If you can't I'll explain the cosmic joke a little more. The English language is the 93 current and its use has the effect of a mantra, the mantra of the 93 current - The law of Thelema - Whatever state or country accepts the English language as its first language will inevitably become Thelemic. The whole language from its structure onwards is the supreme Thelemic Spell. The whole Thelemic ethos is built into the structure of our language, and, MARK CAREFULLY, the whole world will share our language in Time because the language is of the nature of TIME for is not TIME = 93.

The language born out of the bosom of Nuit the Heiratic language of the new aeon is the English language - your heritage from the Gods.

THE ENGLISH QABALLA

The foundation of our belief in the English language is the provable fact that an heiratic text exists in English - Liber Al Vel Legis - The Book of the Law.

Below are the statements made in Al concerning the Qaballa with our interpretation given by the side. I must stress that the Qaballa was obtained without any recourse to this type of logical process.

I:36 My scribe Ankh Af Na Khonsu. The Priest of the Princes shall not in one letter change this book.

This statement is taken literally : that one letter only must not be changed.

But what letter?

I:54 Change not so much as the style of A letter.

This leads us to believe that the letter mentioned in I:36 is A. The rest must be changed, but how?

I:60 My number is eleven as all their numbers who are of us.

Of them? All their words must be of them and as they are Gods then their words must be "living" words that somehow obey the number 11.

II:16 Thus 11 as my bride is 11.

A reiteration of the above statement.

II:54 The letters? Change them not in style or value.

II:55 Thou shalt obtain the order and value of the English Alphabet.

It is stated in Al "The stops as thou wilt", which means that one could read verses 54 and 55 right through.

If one reads this in English it does not make sense. How can one by not altering the book get the order and value of the English alphabet? We have to look closely at the word NOT which in Hebrew is LAMED ALEPH or LA It has again the Hebrew Qaballistic value (Sephirotic position) of eleven! This is further emphasised by the eleven letters in the statement Thou shalt obtain the order and value of the English Alphabet. To summarise the whole procedure, the letter A must not be changed in style or value while all the rest may be changed by the number eleven, which as shown in our previous article gives the following values-

A=1; L=2; W=3; H=4; S=5; D=6; O=7; Z=8; K=9; V=10; G=11; R=12; C=13; N=14; Y=15; J=16; U=17; F=18; Q=19; B=20; M=21; X=22; I=23; T=24; E=25; P=26.

As may be seen, there is a marked resemblance between many of the letters and numbers, but this is not important for the moment.

I have never been satisfied with Crowley's explanation of the spelling of magick and I do not think he was satisfied with it either. Let us consider the Qaballistic values of our subject MAGICK, our supreme Goddess NUIT and our politics, OZ.

MAGICK = 78

NUIT = 78

OZ = 7+8

It is written in Al that 8 = 80: and 418 all equal nothing or therefore 78 = 7 to infinity and 7 = O in E.Q. Therefore magick is the philosophy of the infinite zero. Nuit is the Goddess of infinite zero (Space = 70 = 00 or infinity) and OZ is its politics.

A considerable number of words were checked using this Qaballa until we were convinced that it was indeed genuine and that the interrelationships did work, better than in the Hebrew or any previous qaballistic text.

It soon became obvious that we had to work out the values of every word, sentence, paragraph and verse of Liber Al and work statistically from there. This work occupied the year 1977. A Sepher Sephiroth was prepared and a number chosen to be examined in minute detail. The number chosen was that of Thelema in Greek - 93. Below are listed every known 93 in Liber Al.

I.3. My ecstasy is (in yours =93)

I.9. and behold my light shed (over you =93)

I.21.There is (no other =93) god than me.

I.25. (Divide =93) add multiply and understand.

I.51. (Be goodly =93) therefore, (dress ye =93) all in fine (apparel =93)

I.61. But whoso gives one particle of dust shall lose all in (that hour =93).

I.62. At all my meetings (with you =93)

II.5. Behold: the rituals of the old (time =93) are black.

Then shall this knowledge (go aright =93).

II.15. For I am perfect (being =93) not.

II.22. Fear not that any God shall deny thee (for this =93).

II.26. In my (coiling =93) there is joy.

II.39.A feast for (Tahuti =93) and the child of the prophet.

II.58. Deem not (of change =93).

II.61. There (is a light =93) before thine eyes.

II.75. Aye (listen =93) to the numbers and the words.

III.11. From the ill (ordered =93) house thou shalt (thyself =93)

III.24. (The Host =93) of heaven.

III.34. and blessing no longer be (poured =93)

III.37. (Unity =93) uttermost showed.

III.38. (I have made =93) a secret door

III.42. The ordeals thou shalt oversee (thyself =93)

III.44. Let her be (shameless =93) before all men.

III.47. but always with the (original =93) in the writing of the Beats.

III.55. Be utterly despised (among you =93)

III.60. There is no (law beyond =93) do what thou wilt.

III.75. The (ending =93) of the words is the word Abrahadabra.

The problem then was what was the empirical meaning of 93? To answer this question we will have to refer back to two other statements in Al. II 32 Also reason is a lie for there is a factor infinite and unknown and all their words are SKEW WISE.

The word SKEW is the pointer, it has the value of 42 which is the same value as STAR. "He shall bring the Glory of the STARS into the hearts of men." At the end of II 55 it states "Thou shalt find New symbols to attribute them unto. NEW = 42 = STAR = SKEW.

Are we to assume then that the stars are directly related to the system, that the words of the Gods are not subject to reason but to the Stars? ZODIAC = 58 =HADIT, but for our purposes 93 is the number we are interested in. The Zodiacal sign Scorpio the house of Death is equal to 93. It will be found in The Treasure House of Images Liber 393 that Scorpio is Unity through Denial.

Then 93 is the formula of Unity through Denial - The formula of Life and Death.

All the various methods of working using the old Hebrew Qaballa have proved to be equally valid in working with the English Qaballa. Here are some other methods of working which may be applied to the text and give coherent magickal results.

THE PILLARS

This is where a number has a 1 either side of it, as in 111, 121, 131, etc. This number indicates a power acting in balanced manifestation: thus 121 is balanced duality as expressed in CAPRICORN, DELICIOUS, RAPTUROUS, REJOICE, which all add up to 121.

131. Here 3 = AL in balanced manifestation in words such as UNIVERSE, SUPREME, SERPENT.

141 (4 elements) in the words ELEMENTS, CONTINUOUS, and BEAUTEOUS.

151 (Geburah) EIGHTEEN, CERTAINTY, LIGHTENING.

161 (Chesed) REMEMBER, REVERENCE, SWEETNESSES.

There is no 171 in Liber Al as 7 = O and is the root number of Our Lady of the Stars, and 7 being the infinite zero cannot be expressed.

The number 181 is expressed in the word UNUTTERABLE and since according to Liber Al 8:80:418 = 0 , balanced zero cannot be borne, and hence

181 = UNUTTERABLE

(utter same root as uterus)

representing a word that cannot be spoken.

191 9 is Yesod: illusion. Illusion cannot be in balanced manifestation: if it were it would not be illusion.

THE QABALLA OF INFINITIES

These are numbers ending in 8. These represent Archetypal concepts in that they are the ground rules or one eternity.

18 (Kether) = CALL, GO. As Crowley said one's only function is to go.

28 (Chocmah) WORD, WE, IS. In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God to quote an old Aeon script. Then if God and the word exist, God is giving rise to WE.

38 (Binah) AIWASS, ARE, JOY. This proves two things: one, that Aiwass is the three in one divinity and that the Vision of Sorrow of Binah is truly a mask for the Vision of Joy.

48 BODY, CHILD, DOVE, GOODLY. 4 is Chesed: the divine plan. God made man in his own image BODY - CHILD. The Dove was sent out from the Ark in search of land or order - Chesed. GOODLY - conforming to the Chesedic plan.

58 HADIT, HERU, HOUSE, ORDEALS, SIGNS. 5 is Geburah and the root number of Hadit - the smallest particle. The Hadit particle that is nowhere found yet is the house of being and contains within itself all Karma i.e. ORDEALS and SIGNS.

68 (Tiphareth) CHANGE, JESUS, CHOSEN, LIFE, PALACE, PROUD. The sixth sphere is the pivot of the Tree of Life. It is the sphere of the old Aeon God, Jesus: it is the first manifestation of life which provokes CHANGE. Tiphareth is also the PALACE of the King. The vice of Tiphareth is PRIDE.

78 7 the great mystic magickal number. NUIT, THEE, MANTRAS, TRUE, LITHE, FIRE.

7 = 0 8 = 78 is infinite nothing.

88 CIRCLE, ECSTASY, MASTER, BLESSED.

98 DELICACY, FAILURE, TIMES, LIFTED.

108 FORTRESS, GARMENT, MISTAKE, REFUGE, VISIBLE.

118 ANKH-AF-NA-KHONSU, MIRACULOUS, PRINCES, PURPOSE.

128 BES-NA-MAUT, PRECIOUS, RIGHTEOUS.

138 ENEMIES, VENGEANCE.

148 INNOCENCE, MEETINGS, WORSHIPPERS.

158 CENTURIES.

168 FORTH-SPEAKER.

178 THELEMITES, COMPLEMENT.

We have deliberately kept to a minimum the numbers studied. The idea being to give magickians some ideas to work on within their terms of reference so that they may more quickly accept the INCREDIBLE RELIABILITY of the English Qaballa.

In future articles I am going to discuss the practical aspects of The Qaballa, the rituals of The rituals of the Stars, as it is said "He shall bring the glory of the stars into the hearts of men." These rites have remained secret for centuries, and yet references are made to them everywhere from the Bible to Shakespeare. The symbols of their power are blazoned forth in Every Great House of England and hidden in the Secrets of Freemasonry. These mysteries are not of a God but of a Goddess. There is no God but Man!

All the secrets of Magick and Alchemy are held and explained by her.

It is stated in Al, "Solve the first half of The Equation leave the second unattacked". We intend to reveal the second half of The Equation, that of TIME, so that any magickian may be a member of the body of The Silver Star if he so wishes.

It is your function as the chosen ones of AL to wield the power of Thelema instead of being bystanders and saying to your brothers "I told you so" every time something Thelemic happens to the world. It is the duty of every magickian to help humanity in its first tentative steps towards civilisation.

There are many wizards and sorcerers in Thelema who justify their existence by examining the cesspool of creation, the shells and "atavistic resurgences", - I did it myself in my younger days. Pouring minutely through the dunghill of creation is quite entertaining. You can invent bogey men and literally frighten yourself out of incarnation with them. All the demons and monsters of the deeps can be yours. You can convince yourself that down is up and give credence to these shells as valid entities. They will conspire with your vanity and claim to teach you great secrets, but the suspicious thing about them is that they never seem quite able to come up with a complete story, and the wisdom they impart is always incomplete, because they are in the process of disintegration. How then can one expect to get a complete truth from them? They represent old computer programmes, they are old and outworn, but would gladly fasten on any occultist who would give them credence and thus a little more life. I would conjure you to treat them in the way another great master treated them - love them utterly, consume their devils, demons, monsters, call them what you will - love them with the divine love that is over law and help them release the energy they are holding locked up, so that his energy can be used for other forms that are more amusing to the magickian.

The Thelemic movement has been a house divided against itself. Its leaders picking over the grave of Aleister Crowley for would be relics and bits of paper to prove their various rights of succession, but who cares? In the class A publications we have a magick and philosophy of life to use and live by for the next 2,000 years. I suggest that all the various factions forget their differences and get rid of their petty old Aeon attitudes so that we may get on with the work that the Cosmic Secret of the A.'.A.'. may be wedded to the terrestrial secret that has been revealed by the O.T.O. and the magick of Thelema may at last start ruling the world consciously.
