(Brother D.,  a Neophyte of the A.’.A.’., has complained that I haven’t written anything about the top and bottom trees in the system revealed and concealed in Liber Al Chapter II verse 76. What follows is a simple explanation.)

The simplest and most important meaning of the Thelemic Tree is that it represents primarily the geography between Earth and Heaven. The endless questions of ‘what happens when we die, and what in truth is the cycle of existence’ are answered by this Tree and they are answered in a manner that is irrefutable. The Thelemic Tree illustrates the geography and architecture of existence, and all that has life must follow its pattern. It is irrefutable because it is supported by the most sublime mathematical symbolism that the world has ever known, the English Qaballa. Languages grow like flowers and when they reach fruition they will more or less illustrate the Word of God, and then there will be a significant text written in that language. Inevitably there must eventually be a language which is a combination of all other languages that will delineate the Word of Heaven nearly perfectly, and that language is English, and the Thelemic Tree of Life is its flowering. All the mysteries of creation can be applied to it and solved.

The twenty-eight characters of II:76 are attributed to one Complete Tree with roots, trunk and branches. (Note that 28=WORD.) The first section (4 6 3 8 A B K 2 4 A) delineates Heaven. It has the value 58 = LIBRA, and HADIT, and forms the branches of the Tree. It signifies perfect balance (Libra) as is shown by Hadit which as the smallest particle must exist in a state of perfect balance. The last section (24 89 R P S T O V A L) forming the roots has the value 200 = MANIFESTATION and signifies the Manifestation of that perfection. This is accomplished by means of the trunk (LGMOR3YX), which has the value 93 = DIVIDE, NATURE and UNITY, ensuring that the unexpected will always happen, that the impossible will become necessary. 93 divides Heaven from Earth, and stops the Earth from becoming perfect, because in the beginning was perfection and as we know nothing is perfect. For perfection to manifest it has to become less than nothing. The means by which this is achieved is 93, which maintains this state of imperfection.

The top tree is the Tree of Perfection where Malkuth has ascended to Daath. The bottom tree is imperfect and Daath is but a shadow of Malkuth. The bottom tree is governed by the Qaballah indicated by the Hebrew tradition and the top tree is that system perfected, where the Sephiroth become the Mansions of Heaven. The old concept of only one Tree of Life is untenable because nothing could happen in manifestation beyond the production of the amoeba - a single celled creature. This is obvious, as a system going from zero to manifestation could only produce this without periodic interference from beyond, i.e., from 93. This is the formula of how an idea must ultimately obsess a medium, the basis upon which the magic of manifestation works.

There is no grace or guilt in this system, it is simply the mechanism by which the Unknowable manifests itself for the expression of all its characteristics or nature. God is One. All Creation is a part of God. There is nothing but God. God and His Creation are one. We are all part of God. I use the term God: some would demand that he is male or female, or has this name or that; but God is all things and is totally indefinable by that which He, She, or It, has created.

The Book L and its Tree and Qaballa show this absolute transcendence in a way that has never happened before in the history of mankind. It shows everything in relationship using numbers, the Will of God expressed in endless harmonious numerical symbolisms and relationships. It is not for the pygmy minds of today, it will always be misinterpreted and misrepresented. The English Qaballa, its Tree and psychocosmology belong to emancipated future generations. It is a seed that is planted in the wasteland of dying religions and philosophies that will grow unnoticed except by a chosen few; perhaps you, dear reader, are one of those chosen few. The rest will run away in fear and indifference. The door of this enlightenment is well and truly shut from the profane but for those few, those chosen few, it is for them that these words are primarily written.

On the Tree of Manifestation(=200) time is linear and space is three dimensional. The Perfect Tree appears to be Nothing(=97) from the Manifest Tree, and here space is linear and time is three dimensional. Of course the reward of 97=NOTHING is HEAVEN=79.

Note that Kether and Tiphareth on the Manifest Tree have the same value, 24=T=GOD, and that Kether and Yesod on the Perfect Tree have the same value, 4=H. Furthermore, Daath and Geburah on the Perfect Tree have the same value as Yesod on the Manifest Tree, and the Manifest Malkuth has the same value as the Perfect Hod. Those spheres with the same numbers are the pathways between Earth and Heaven or Manifestation and Heaven.

On the bottom tree we are born, live and grow old and remember, on the top tree from death we grow young and forget. Nothing can essentially happen on the top tree because it is perfect. You spend your time in Heaven in love, harmony, peace, glory, etc., until you have entirely forgotten your life on earth, until it has no meaning for you and you know that God is all things and that all things are God. There is no point in remembering the pain of your earthly life when you are in the light and love of Heaven, surrounded by your eternal companions. A soul entering the top tree would slowly lose its characteristics – personality, instinct, emotion, reason; because it has no need of them in the perfection that is Heaven. You will shed all your memories as you would shed a raincoat after the rain, you no longer need them in the love and peace of Heaven. Only the aspect that is eternal will retain a memory of these characteristics and all its previous incarnations. You will become purer and purer until there is only pure spirit with the mind of a child; it is then that you will be ready to be reborn.

Thus is the cycle of eternity continued.

We live forever, and it doesn’t matter what religion you belong to, how you have sinned, what wrongs you have done in life, we all without exception will go to Heaven when we die. This is a fact of our eternal existence, it is as true as spring is followed by summer, and summer by autumn and winter: irrefutable facts of nature, and it doesn’t matter what you are or what you do, you will still feel the warmth of the summer sun; and when you die you will be in the eternal presence and love of the light of God. We will be reborn and be subject to the laws of Karmic adjustment which must be made for our apparent infringement of the laws of God in our previous life and lives. There is no grace or guilt, we will suffer the pain of adjustment which some will see as justice, but in truth we will all be Adolf Hitler one day, because there is all eternity for us to experience every possible persona and the consequences of that persona’s actions. We are all aspects of God, experiencing all the possibilities of the nature of God, and we have all eternity in which to do it. We will seem to be good or evil, saint or sinner, and we will learn what it feels like to be everything.

The most sophisticated way of living is that of Christianity, to imitate Christ and endlessly forgive everybody everything. Have compassion for the evil ones because ‘they know not what they do’, they are not conscious of the eternal truths. They sin today, we sin tomorrow, and we always become that which we hate most. We hate it most because our spirit is informing us that this is what we must become next. We see it in others and fight against what we hate until we become that which we hate, see the Nazis, the Jews and the Palestinians for details. These experiences must be gone through, and we should all, like Christ, have compassion and not judge but take care of our own challenges; it is all the will of God. They will all learn one day. We can only ever see a part of things, we can never see the whole picture, and in seeing only part we make judgements based on our lack of knowledge of the whole. All is God, remember, there is nothing but God. We have all eternity to learn to be worthy of seeing His whole will and in the meantime we are free to sin our socks off. Christ himself said that sinners are most welcome in the Kingdom of Heaven. We have all eternity to experience through life death and rebirth all the possibilities of existence, through the geography and architecture of the Complete Tree of Life, and its English Qaballa that delineates and defines that architecture.

We incarnate into this world as Christians, Moslems, Hindus, and a myriad of other means of experiencing our essential divine nature. Those who need to learn compassion and forgiveness are born to be Christian, those whose experiences have taught them that we must constantly follow the Will of God become Moslems; in that sense we are all Moslems. The mystical sect of Sufism in Islam are actually with the Divine Will. What this means is impossible to describe and can only be experienced by a worthy elect. Hindus experience a wide range of divine influences and are devoted to the aspect of Divinity that is closest to their nature. Taoists worship their ancestors to maintain a continuity with this world and the next that raises their consciousnesses beyond the world of causality to a greater world of the knowledge of the continuity of existence. In the Buddhist philosophy of non-attachment, by detaching themselves from being asleep in the Law of Karma and reacting endlessly to the whim of ego, transcend it and become one with the constant ineffable flow of consciousness that is the essence of the universe. Each one of us incarnates and experiences life from one divine standpoint  or another. The atheist denies the existence of God with a passion that by its very nature has a divine origin. Our experiences of this life are defined by our previous life, and the atheist has suffered what he considers a divine betrayal in his previous life that makes him deny God in this one. The Jews whose numbers are small but whose influence is great I will not explain as the glory of their function and destiny will be misunderstood. It will be enough to say that the value in E.Q. of JEW=44=LOVE etc; JEWS=49=CROWN etc; ISRAEL=68=JESUS etc.

If we view life from the standpoint of one life and then it’s heaven, hell, or annihilation then our experience of it is catastrophic; but if we view life in its true light as being an endless process of incarnations we evolve further and further in our spiritual development to a level of consciousness that cannot be dreamt of in the primitive state that we have progressed to today. The whole universe was created to support us. We are very very special in the scheme of things: children of God who will eventually be crowned by the ineffable light of Divine intelligence with a destiny of such glory that is impossible even to imagine today. The destiny of our human race will require each one of us to experience all the possibilities of being alive on this earth, to eventually take our places at the Right Hand of God. This is what we asked for in the beginning and this is what we will receive in the end that never comes.
